I am a CELTA-qualified English language teacher. I have been teaching adults and young adults for over 12 years and specialise in TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS exam preparation. I ran the TOEIC and TOEFL course at a major international language school.
I have helped hundreds of hopeful language students give their best performance on English language exams, making it possible for them to enter their dream university or excel in their career.

Location
I have taught English in Europe, China and Japan and, currently, I am based in Tokyo, Arakawa-ku. I am available for in-person lessons in the local area and also online lessons.

How I teach
I teach in a modern style that encourages learner independence and real-world confidence. Learning a language is a big challenge and I coach my students through the process and adapt (and learn with you!) to give you the best possible learning experience.
Lessons are custom-made for each student after assessing the student’s needs. I continually assess students requirements to be able to adapt to their growth and development.
Ascend English uses a structured learning course to track progress overall and students are also expected to be active participants in their own learning outcomes.
Levels
We cater for all levels from Absolute Beginner to Upper Intermediate and Advanced. We can, therefore, improve your general English ability and get you in the best position to join the exam course. Level structure at Ascend English is aligned with the CEFR levels.

Along with my professional experience in writing and editing, I have also taught I wide range of professionals to help them improve their English language skills and confidence.
I have taught a wide range of professionals, from judges and civil servants to athletes, rocket scientists and clergymen, and helped them address their learning challenges.
